    Practising sets probably.

@FrankPig I don't think a monitor arm is very useful in a small space like that. It's easier to just hang the monitor on the wall.

we used to dream of having a studio in a closet, back then it was the eleven of us living in a hot water heater in the rubbish heap.

If it is the smaller room, I don't think I can optimise the space much more than this. Monitor on the wall, 8U rack on either side of desktop for synths, space for Push 2, Audient ID14 MkII, keyboard, mouse, and cuppa/beer/rum space. 88 keyboard pull out shelf, 10-12U rack space in both legs for audio interface/processing gear. Back of desk has compartment for power strips and cable management too, but still needs cable routing holes drilled once it is built (if this is what I end up going with). DJ 'booth' in back corner, with 4 spaces for storage cubes to hold random bits and space underneath for something.

Managed to get all this gear into a 1.5m x 0.9m footprint. Don't think I can optimise the space much more than this design, and pretty ergonomic too with the desk top racked synths facing the seating position, and the Push 2 angled up on it's stand. The desktop synths racks are 6U each, so will house my Model D (3U), Pro-1 (3U), K-2 (3U), and am already wondering what to buy to fill the other 3U

I also think I'm slowly getting addicted to this design malarkey in SketchUp :dunno::rofl:

If your wishlist of rack gear happens to be a Bluey, Blackface, LA2A, RND Portico?, H9000, VSC-3, Lexi, is that a LX480 on the desk?; could you at least spring for a really nice vintage Binson like Brauer has, a DBX160, an S1000 and E6400 Ultra to hold up the Moogs?

Maybe some monitors from a company whose name does not start with a K and end in a RK, or are they there as a joke? :)

You should check out Shadow Child's setup if you can find a picture. It's like a closet with your desk, but behind him he has a bunch of full kb synths stacked vertically on the wall behind him. I had never seen that before, and it actually looks pretty cool that way.
